With more than 120 of the top leaders being listed as global terrorists under the 1267 UNSC committee, the Taliban has created a peculiar situation for the world as the group has not yet been designated as a terrorist entity either by the US or the UN. Including Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, the president of Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan, al-Qaeda, Haqqani Network, Jaish-e Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Tehreek-e-Taliban are already registered as the global terror entities under the UN 1267 committee and US State Department. By this index, aren’t the Democracies across the globe playing with semantics when it is charming the Taliban without breaching its policies of not negotiating with the terrorists and terror organizations?
Amid this peculiar situation, countries like China and the United Kingdom are impetuous to support and mentor Pakistan to charm the Taliban by throwing the ethical principles book out of the window. Following the support and amid differences among the Taliban holding the declaration of the new Afghan government, Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, the super spy from Pakistan reached Kabul to assist the Taliban leadership to discard their differences and announce the government soon.
While the whole world is still hopeful that the Sunni Islamic groups will give them a comprehensive government window to legitimize them, China emerges as the real gainer of the military revolutions this year. China is already engaging junta in Myanmar and the Taliban in Afghanistan which may pose a real threat to India. India being geographically surrounded by two pro-China regimes on the Eastern and Western borders, the Taliban partner groups may try to cause internal troubles in Kashmir and the neighborhood.
However, the fact to be noticed is that the Taliban has not yet questioned China on the treatment of Sunni Uyghur in Xinjiang before making economic ties with China. Al Qaeda on August 31 also made a statement for liberating the Islamic lands all over the world including Palestine, Maghreb, Syria, and Kashmir but never uttered a word about Xinjiang Uyghur.
