Pramod Bhagat has won the first gold medal in badminton in Tokyo Paralympic or the country. In Tokyo Paralympic, Pramod Bhagat won against Britain’s Daniell Bethell in the finals of the Men’s Singles SL3 event and grabbed the first-ever medal for India in the Paralympic on Saturday.
PM Modi Contacted Bhagat after the historic win and congratulated him on winning medals at the Paralympics. The Indian Prime Minister tweeted “Pramod Bhagat has won the hearts of the entire nation. He is a Champion, whose success will motivate millions. He showed remarkable resilience & determination. Congratulations to him for winning the Gold in Badminton. Best wishes to him for his future endeavors.”
Pramod contracted polio at the age of 4. At the age of 13, he picked up sports after watching his neighbor play. Pramod hails from Hajipur in the Vaishali district in Bihar. At the of 15, he competed against normal category athletes. He was motivated by the spectators which eventually motivated him to play.
