Bihar department of environment creates a separate wing in order to promote ecotourism. While leading a high-class meeting, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar decided to create a separate wing under the Department of Environment, Forest And Climate Change (DEFCC ) for promoting and developing ecotourism in the state.

According to the draft policy, there are going to be two separate committees, one at the state level and another at the district level. However, the district level committee will be headed by the District Magistrate and the latter will be headed by the Principal Secretary of DEFCC.

The policy suggests that the district administration has to involve the local authorities and committees in the decision-making and in the development of ecotourism.

The CM suggested the fellow authorities develop ecotourism while maintaining a sensible touch with nature. In his statement, he strongly pointed out the fact that while developing ecotourism, the disturbance to nature should be minimal. He also said that the development of ecotourism will also increase awareness about the environment and its beings.

Nitish Kumar pointed out the fact that such development of ecotourism, not only increases the tourism count in Bihar but also be helpful to the local people and will also boost their income.
