Hydrogen has always been the fuel of the future for decades always promising to deliver huge benefits in about five years’ time.
Reliance Industries Chairman and Billionaire, Mukesh Ambani, is gearing up the Industry for an aggressive raid into clean energy and expects India to emerge as a leader in green hydrogen technology while setting aggressive targets to bring down the cost of hydrogen to $1 dollar per kilogram in the next decade.
Ambani said at an international climate summit 2021, that while the world is making efforts to bring down the cost to initially under $2 per kg and make green hydrogen the most affordable fuel option, India can set an “aggressive target” for breaching the $1 mark.
He has also announced that RIL has started developing the Dhirubhai Ambani Green energy Giga complex spread over 5,000 acres.
The integrated renewable energy manufacturing facilities will include an integrated solar photovoltaic module factory, advanced energy storage battery factory, electrolyzer factory for green hydrogen production, and fuel cell factory. The investment in the next 3 years will be Rs 75,000 crore.
As climate change concerns are pushing countries to take serious measures, global energy majors are making a move towards cleaner fuels. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a National Hydrogen Mission for the country, in an attempt to push energy security for the country.
